This morning we received a new guest in class who had come from Australia.
Jordine, who is our English Language Assistant at our Scholl, introduced her. It happens to be that they know each other quite well and so they decided to talk about ‘A hot Christmas time’ in Australia.
They explained us their costumes, traditions, holidays; they told us what most of the Australian families usually do during Christmas time: on the 24th, 25th and on Boxing day too. Then we talked about another subject: their lives in Australia being universitary students; how can they get some money to help them with the university expenses, how much money the government gives the students to be able to survive during that time...... Finally they told us about the age young people start working in their country and the jobs they usually look for and have to be able to earn a living.
You know what? They are quite surprise that in Spain young people start working at a very late age as in Australia they do so when they are 15 years old.
